The Installation Process

1. Pre-Site Consultation

Reservoirs up to 245 000 litres are best installed on a well-compacted, smooth, and level earth base.
(Please refer to our Site Preparation Guidelines below for full specifications.)

Earth bases naturally allow for minor ground movement. A concrete slab that has not been properly designed and compacted can crack, which may compromise the reservoir structure. A correctly prepared earth base is often more adaptable and reduces long-term risk.

For reservoirs 245 000 litres and above, a professionally engineered concrete slab or ring beam is mandatory. This must be prepared in advance and signed off by a private site engineer before installation can begin.

2. Delivery Logistics

All three RainQueen branches offer an in-house delivery service.

Our reservoirs are transported in panel form and assembled on-site by our team or by the customer (DIY kits available).

Delivery costs vary depending on:

Distance from the branch
Site accessibility
Requirements for overnight accommodation (if applicable)

We ensure all deliveries are planned carefully to align with your installation timeline.

3. On-Site Build by the RainQueen Team

Although our reservoirs can be supplied as DIY installation kits, many customers opt for our expert in-house installation teams.

Our teams install reservoirs quickly, efficiently, and in full compliance with our engineering standards—ensuring your warranty, guarantees, and after-sales support remain fully intact.

4. Final Checks & Handover

Once installation is complete, we conduct a final inspection together with the customer.

Our team only leaves site once:

You are fully satisfied with the installation
All quality checks are completed
Your reservoir is confirmed to have water en route

This final step ensures absolute confidence in the product you’ve received.

How long does installation take?

Installation times depend on reservoir size and whether a corrugated roof is included.

2m – 10m diameter reservoirs:

1.5m high (no roof): 2 – 6 hours
2.2m high (no roof): 2 – 8 hours
1.5m high (with roof): 3 – 10 hours
2.2m high (with roof): 3 – 12 hours

11m – 12m diameter reservoirs:

1.5m high (no roof): ±10 hours
2.2m high (no roof): 14 – 16 hours
1.5m high (with roof): 14 – 16 hours
2.2m high (with roof): 16 – 20 hours

What happens if something goes wrong?

If any issue arises during installation, our directors are immediately available to assist.

Historically, almost all installation issues have resulted from incorrect site preparation, which can compromise structural stability. In such cases, the reservoir may need to be disassembled until the site is compliant.
